Founder’s Story

As a young girl, no one would have imagined that Stacey Smith would one day be sentenced to 60 years in prison on a drug charge. However, God used prison to bring Stacey to saving faith in Jesus Christ and to dramatically transform her life through the application of His Word. During her 12 years in prison she was permitted to serve in the chaplaincy department, as well as in a faith-based program called PAL™ (Principles & Application for Life).

Upon her early release, Stacey’s dream of ministering to those outside of prison walls was fulfilled. Through the guidance of her pastor and board of directors, the ministry of Prison to Purpose™ was born. The same Biblical truths that set Stacey’s incarcerated soul free are now given through the training and resources of Prison to Purpose™.

The Arkansas Department of Corrections has endorsed Stacey to serve as chaplain in the facility where she was once incarcerated. She is the first female ex-felon to receive this privilege. Whether she is ministering to women inside or outside prison, Stacey’s passion for the Word of God and the transforming power of Jesus Christ permeates her life.

Ministering to the incarcerated population is one of Stacey’s greatest joys.
